Company Program
Take your dancing to the next level with the Storytellers Dance Co. competitive company.
Company dancers take a set program of classes designed to build well-rounded dancers. They also participate in 3-5 competitions per year to get extra performance experience and feedback from industry professionals outside of the studio. Our company dancers embody our core tenants of creativity, empathy, and artistry, as we work to build strong, smart, and technically-excellent dancers. SDC Company dancers are...
- Committed: Dance is your primary extra-curricular activity. You prioritize classes, rehearasals, shows, and competitions over other sports and activities.
- Passionate: You love dance. The work that goes into it is worth the payoff of performing and expressing yourself through dance.
- Disciplined: Your dance goals include performing to your highest level, and you understand that takes repetition, patience, and a willingness to do challenging things. You want to train at an intensive level, not just win awards.
- Full Out: You come to class ready to give 100%, whatever that is that day. Your eagerness to learn outweighs your pride, and you give your full effort even when you make mistakes or struggle with new concepts.

Jazz
Jazz dance is an energetic and technical form of dance that can be done in many different styles, from classic and Broadway style jazz (think isolations and character!) through commercial jazz and jazz funk (think strong and sassy!). Tap
Tap dance calls on dancers to use their feet as an instrument, creating rhythms and patterns using metal attached to the bottom of the shoe! With roots as a form of communication and expression by enslaved Africans, this style infuses Black and European influences to create the intricate and energetic style of dance we know today! Our dancers will learn age/level appropriate tap vocabulary, along with how to count music and strengthen their legs, ankles, and feet.
We Offer: Ballet/Tap Combo, Pre Tap, Beginner 1 Tap, Beginner 2 Tap, Intermediate Tap, Company Program Classes
Hip-Hop
Hip Hop dance is a strong and high energy class built on grooves, party moves, and breaking! Hip Hop has its beginnings in 1970s Bronx as a new art form and lifestyle born out of both struggle and joy in Black and Latino communities. Dancers can expect to build strength, coordination, and style, learning moves they’re likely to see in mainstream media like movies, music videos, and even TikToks!
We Offer: Beginner 1 Hip Hop, Beginner 2 Hip Hop, Intermediate Hip Hop, Teen Hip Hop, Company Program Classes
Contemporary
A hybrid form of dance, contemporary is most closely linked to modern dance—a form of dance that uses floorwork, improvisation, and movement that comes from the core. While modern dance has a unique and specific technique, contemporary breaks through restraints, pulling from various styles of dance to express emotions and tell stories. Our classes include an active stretch/warm-up based in ballet and jazz technique along with lessons, dance combinations, and class activities centered on storytelling and improvisation.
We Offer: Intermediate Contemporary, Teen Contemporary, Company Program Classes
