Hi there! My name is Alexa (Lexi) Forgione, and I have been directing Storytellers Dance Co. for the past six years. While most little dancers dream of dancing center stage, I knew from a young age that my true passion was in teaching dance. I am so excited to be fulfilling that dream, sharing my knowledge and love for dance with the next generation of dancers!
Before starting Storytellers Dance Co., I grew up dancing competitively at Tammy's Dance Connection in Tewksbury, Ma, where I trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop, as well as worked as an assistant teacher, and, later, teacher. In 2019, I graduated with a BS in business administration and marketing from Babson College. During my time there, I continued my training as dancer with the Babson Dance Ensemble and as one of just six Sorenson Scholars of the Arts recipients. As a Sorenson Scholar, I created dance-based term projects each year that encouraged me to explore my creativity, stretch my artistry, and hone my teaching and choreography skills. These projects played a huge part in connecting with the children who would become some of my first students with Storytellers Dance Co. Since forming Storytellers Dance Co. in 2019, I have lead both competitive and non-competitive classes to success as the sole teacher and director of the program. My students have gone on to win countless first place and top ten awards at the regional and national competitive level, performed with confidence in our annual recital, and celebrated their growth and effort daily in the classroom. Our studio has also been recognized for Excellence in Artistry (Dance to Inspire Competition) and Studio Integrity (Accelerate Dance Experience), and these are the awards of which I'm most proud. A storyteller at heart, I pride myself on molding well-rounded dancers who value technique, creativity, and performance in equal measures. I enjoy adapting my teaching style to the individual students and classes in front of me to create the most welcoming and effective classroom experience I can each time! I'm looking forward to meeting and connecting with your dancers! Though I typically eat, sleep, and breathe dance and dance education, you can find me curled up with a good book and a cup of tea in my free time or making memories with my best friends and four siblings! |
